Brough Playschool Celebrates 60 Years of Nurturing Young Minds
Brough Eagles Playschool, nestled within the heart of the village, is proud to announce its 60th anniversary, marking six decades of providing a nurturing environment for young children. Founded in 1964 by a group of visionary local women, including the esteemed Mary Keogh, the Playschool has remained a cornerstone of the community, evolving over the years while staying true to its core values.
Originally housed in ‘The Scout Hut’, Brough Playschool found its permanent home in Brough Methodist Church, where it continues to thrive to this day. From 2004 until 2014, the Playschool was overseen by a dedicated board of trustees from the church, before being taken under the wings of Brough Eagles. Through these transitions, the essence of Brough Playschool has endured — a haven where children can play, learn, and forge lifelong friendships in a secure and caring environment.
As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we invite all past staff, former students, and parents to join us in commemorating the memories and milestones that have shaped the legacy of Brough Playschool. We understand that memories may fade with time, especially for our youngest alumni who departed at the tender age of four, but we cherish every recollection and photograph shared.
To capture the essence of our journey, we are reaching out to our community through social media, seeking anecdotes, photographs, and reflections from those who have graced our halls over the years. Our aim is to compile these treasures into a keepsake booklet, preserving the rich tapestry of our history for generations to come.
In addition to our digital campaign, we are thrilled to announce a celebratory coffee morning and open day on June 22nd, where friends old and new can reunite and reminisce. It’s an opportunity for us to express our gratitude to everyone who has been a part of our story and to extend a warm welcome to potential new additions to our Playschool family.
While we reflect on our past, we also look to the future with optimism and excitement. With children already booked for September 2024, we are eager to welcome more children into our nurturing environment.
